I am not sure where I first learned the first tune but I remember enjoying playing it while a student at DIT, I believe one or two of the variations I play here may have been given to me by my flute teacher at the time Tom Doorley. I believe I fist learned the second tune from a student of Brian Conway's who I used to play with during the one year of college I did at Bard College at Simon's Rock in Massachusetts, my long ago friend was named Liam, however, his last name escapes me all these years later. I remember relearning it while living in a house on Blackberry Lane just off of Rathmines Road in Dublin during my fifth and final year in the city.
